Based on the maps of Canterbury in David Starbuck's Canterbury Shaker Village: Archeology and Landscape, pages 96 and 97, the view is of Turning Mill Pond. The island is designated as "Boys' Island." The turning mill is located opposite the island.
Inscriptions: Photographer: H. A. Kimball is printed on the back of the card. Photographs mounted on a light lavender card; card and photographs are in excellent condition, with some light soiling particularly on the upper right photograph. No identification on the face of the card; however, photographer and picture list are printed on the back of the card. Sixteen views, each with a series of numbers, is given on a list on the back of the card. At the bottom is printed, "A line underneath denotes the title and number of this view." While no number is given, a penned title is written in, "Great Barn at Shaker Village Mer Co. NH North View."; Great Barn at Shaker village, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, north view.
