Amana Schoolhouse, Description: Picture showing the two buildings of the Amana School. The building on the left is currently part of the Amana Heritage Museum. The image is 3 1/4 square and is mounted on a gray embossed card that is 5.5 square. No date or markings (other that my own identification on back), but likely 1890s., Provenance: Purchased from Peter Hoehnle.

Description: Glossy 8 X 10 print from an original, damaged, negative, of a baker unloading large loaves of bread from a bake oven, presumably the one in main Amana. The image is very clear, but with some unfortunate surface damage to the original negative in the area of the man's head and just behind him. Original image probably dates to around 1915, although, as noted, this is a modern print., ... [description clipped]

The entire west side of the Metz house is visible, including the attached kitchen house wing. In the far left of the photograph one can see the Amana Church. Description: Later day copy print of a circa 1905 post card image of a woman in the kitchen of the Homestead Hotel. Legend on the side of the image reads "A Colony Kitchen, Homestead, Iowa." The image is 6 1/4 X 8 1/4. I know from other prints that this was actually the kitchen of the Homestead Hotel, not a kitchen house for the members. This is now Zuber's Hotel in Homestead. Dickel's Kuche Amana., Description: View of the aftermath of a fire that destroyed the Dickel kitchen house and severely damaged the attached residence. A very clear photograph.
