Guest speaker will be Jim Evans, a behavioral psychologist studying alternative education who has researched with Dr. Lloyd Homme, an early student of B.F. Skinner who participated with Dr. Skinner on the first ex- periments done with teaching machines and programmed in- struction. Dr. Evans is current- ly the head of The Instructional Development Unit of The Com- munications Office for Research and Training at U.C.S.F. The speakers, whose theories are eclectic, have been influ- enced by the writings of R. Buckminster Fuller. In the forum on "Alternative Pursuits: A Nhdern Experiment" they will be discussingthe necessary stages leading to a utopian society. They will discuss the dynamics of how groups can function har- moniously and interact without personality friction. They will also explore the creation of al- ternative living units, including town and country Resource Re- sorts and the development of lo- cal facilities whichvvould provide health-care and multimedia edu- cation to persons on a decen- tralized basis. The program will feature mul- ti-media. In addition to speakers there will be a slide show & af- ter the lecture there will be a question and answer period. Print- ed material on the subject will also be available. The panel will be receptive to ideas from the audience on how interested per- sons can work on the programs & concepts discussed at the forum.
