Description: Group of school boys in the apple orchard, around 1895. This is a modern 8 X 10 print from an original image made by Bertha M.H. Shambaugh around 1895. Shambaugh mainly photographed in Amana between about 1892 and her marriage in 1897. This print was probably made in the 1970s and is of good quality. About 10 school age youths are in the picture, along with two older adults, one of whom (with white chin beard) is likely Engelhardt Hecker, one of the school teachers at the time. Included are several of the distinctive Amana willow baskets.
Description: Probably taken by John L. Eichacker (1882-1935), the father of the children and husband of one of the women. Identified on the back of the card as Mrs. Wm Moershel, Mrs. John [Caroline] Eichacker (1886-1946), Mrs. John Marz and Elizabeth [Lipman] (1908-1982) and John Eichacker (1910-1945). John H. Eichacker was later a student of Iowa artist Grant Wood, served as the Homestead post master and was a casualty of World War II.

Image is 4 X 3 mounted on a gray card board which is 7 X 6. $75.

Description: This image was made several months after the station, one of two that the Society built right after the reorganization, had opened. A car and the stations two employees, twins Herbert (1909-1993) and Albert (1909-1979) Fels are in front. The station was built using bricks that were salvaged from a demolished portion of the Amana Calico Mill. Printed on post card stock, photo is dated in pencil, "May 21 - 1933"

Description: Small image, not mounted, of a horse drawn wagon in front of the Amana General Store. The Lauer Saal (original 1856 meeting house, no longer extant) is visible in the background. The dozen women, men and children seated on the wagon are clearly excursionists who have arrived by train. A row of picnic baskets is visible on the wagon, and one of the women is shading herself with a large umbrella. Charming, ca. 1900 view of early Amana visitors. 3 3/4 X 3.

Two young men are seen standing to the left of four power looms. The drive shafts are visible on the ceiling in this very unusual early interior view of the woolen mill.
