Few people have ever experi- enced a lifestyle anything like that in Kerista Village. While most people struggle against jealousy, Keristans, for example, have been living with a balanced rotational sleeping schedule where all intimate relationships are treasured and passionate. Here people of the same sex ex- perience “compersion,” an actual delight at the knowledge that one’s lovers and one’s best friends are enjoying each other to the hilt. While most people don’t know what to do about the deteriorating world conditions that make the likelihood of nuclear war between the super- powers more imminent all the time, Keristans are working on implementing a strategy for world peace which is practical, comprehensive, non-violent, easy to understand and rele- vant. While most people are just emerging from residual Judeo- Christian taboos against sexual fantasy, Keristans have no trouble living with their own self- imposed sexual limitations while running a Growth Co-op in which they and others (outside the community) freely communicate about their harmless erotic fanta- sies in an atmosphere of trust and openness. Scintillating conversation of this ilk is sure to make any social eve- ning an outstanding hitl If you would like to form a Living Room Theater Collective, that is if you would like to invite some of your friends together for an eve- ning of Gestalt-O-Drama, hip conversation with some mem- bers of Kerista Village, feel free to contact me to arrange it. I am Bluejay Way, a member of Kerista Village who has been in- volved with this alternative life- style for over nine years. I am co- ordinating our evenings and afternoons of living room theater. We do theater all the time, producing between two and four hours of videotape pro- gramming a week under the title “SPACE GYPSIES." Our living room theater includes music, poetry, and the most exciting dia- logue on the face of this earth. For more information phone or write: Bluejay Way 543 Frederick St. San Francisco, CA 94117 (415) 566-6502, (415) 665-2988. LIVING ROOM THEATER COLLECTIVES CAN CHANGE A good adventure can change your life. Boredom is the absence of suffi- cient excitement in life. It seems ironic, in a time when multi- million-dollar movie extravagan- zas are only a few short blocks away, television programs on every theme abound, and learn- ing is actually doubling at the rate of every five years, that the gloom of boredom should mar your life. Gloom and melancholy are inex- tricably interwoven with the no- tion that “there's nothing new under the sun." The state of mind, variously known as the blues, the blahs, being down in the dumps, anxiety, ennui, de- pression, can be overcome. How? Through transcending fan- tasy deprivation and discovering the bright sparkle of the new ideas radiating from the Kerista Research Institute. The Kerista Research Institute (KRI) has confined its focus to two broad areas: personal solu- tions and global solutions. Activ- ity is not limited to studying theo- retical lifestyle modes which result in mental health and per- sonal liberation for the indi- vidual, or theoretical socioeco- nomic systems which would re- sult in hypothetical elimination of future nuclear conflagration and an equally high standard of living for all humanity. KRI tests its theories in actual operational models. Our most successful operational model is a group marriage which has been in exis- tence since 1971. The type of sexuality practiced within this multi—adult family is called spiri- tual po/ylidelity. The family is called The Purple Submarine. It is a prototype for what will ulti- mately be a transnational coali- tion of such corporate super- families, which will make up a global village called Kerista Vil- People in Kerista Village live by a social contract which each per- son has an equal voice in shap- ing. The idea of the social con- tract has never been stated more clearly than in the words of Rousseau, who said, “Obedience to a set of laws which I prescribe for myself is liberty." Positive An- archy is a vision of a future world where people live in decentral- ized communities by social con- tracts of their mutual consent. No one compromises on values criti- cal to her/his integrity. She/he merely writes her/his important values down in a social contract and looks for people whose own ideas of self-regulation harmon- ize. Thus the blessings of sover- eign individuality and the bene- fits of collective organization and community affiliation merge in blissful union. The alliance of autonomous social groupings, each living under its own social contract, is called the Confedera- tion lor Universal Recreational Education (CURE). Through the Confederation people use the money they save through co- operative living for toys which enhance their own lives, and al- truistic programs which benefit those suffering from privation, be it material, mental or emo- tional/spiritual discomfort. Kerista Village has already con- clusively demonstrated that people can work less, live better and have more disposable in- come left over each month when they live communally rather than alone or in couples. As Assem- blyman Willie Brown once said, “lnitial outlay for hard goods is reduced through cooperative ownership and use, and a prod- uct which would normally only be used 20% of the time is more likely to be used, say, 80% of the time." In a society where the number one problem on every- one's mind is inflation, the eco- nomic merits of cooperative liv- ing are certainly nothing to ignore. However, successful equalitarian group living is prac- tically unheard of. The impor- tance of Kerista Village as a model lies in its role as the world’s first prototype non- monogamous multi—adult family, democratic community, in which the twin ideals of economic equality and individual liberty are equally exalted. You can share the excitement of the discoveries being made and the problems being confronted by the vanguard living on the frontier of social sexual libera- tion through living room theater. in living room theater a person who is a friend of any memberls) Show less

MONEY DOESNT MANAGE ITSlsLl= SHORT COURSE IN THE ART OF MONEY MANAGEMENT by Brother jud Once a month fill out the Balance Sheet on the reverse side. The regularity of counting your money once a month is the rhythm of the entire money management system. THE BALANCE SHEET shows your exact financial condition. Three verifiable facts of life are (1) the amount of Current Assets you own; (2) the amount of Current Liabilities you owe; (3) the difference between the two (your Net Worth). Once a month at the end of the last day (figuratively just before midnight at 11:59:59 P.M.), make a precise recorded evaluation of your exact Net Worth. This is simply a matter of adding up your Current Assets and subtracting your Current Liabilities. This monthly pattern tells you the difference between the Net Worth at (I) the start of the month, and (2) the end of the month. The Net Worth is the key figure. If you take your NET WORTH at the start of the month and add to it your known INCOME for the month, you have a SUBTOTAL (before deduc- tion of any expenses). If you deduct from this Sub- total your NET WORTH at the end of the month you have- the exact amount of OUTGO for the entire month. Your OUTGO is used to prepare your MONTHLY INCOME AND EXPENSE STATEMENT. The OUTGO for the month (representing the total sum of all your expenses) is the key figure in the NET WORTH ANALYSIS. The difference between the Income and the Outgo is called Income Remaining. In order for a new social structure to prove psychologically viable, an altruistic social consciousness must be preva- lent in each member.’ That is, the welfare of others is equally ‘as important as one's own well-being, knowing that every person deserves to live comfortably and con- tentedly. After an altruisticallyi aware intellectual has joined the Utopian Society of America, he/she is confronted with many opportunities to choose from. He/she may put his/her energies into whatever art forms seem most compatible with the innate desire to be productive. For instance, he/she may give and take any number of music and art (self-development) workshops in P.A.S.S. Free U, the first utopian university without walls. . included in P.A.S.S. Free U are courses in Creative Accounting, which is a very important phase of building a self-sufficient community. To understand and be able to regulate the flow of dough is the first step toward the development of an economic system that is capable of supporting as well as being supported by the intellectual artists who make up the complex. This is a real energy- exchange life-support system. Participation in thirty-two self-help programs infiltrates the entire educational complex, adding dimension not only to the community as an entity, but to the indivi- dual as well, for productivity through community in- volvement is a measure of self-development. « These self-help programs appear in many different forms: a member of the Utopian Society of America can participate in the Peace Room, an arena in which ashram-seekers are crossmatched according to the stan- dards that they choose to live by. . . musicians can find music workshops and places to jam . . .visual artists are connected with facilities and space in which to work . . . Peace Room possibilities are many. The Utopian Society- of America will also be sponsoring various Community Improvement Projects, depending on the directions which members want to take. There is plenty that can be done, and the possibilities in this area are numerous. Seen futuristically, and on a larger scale, the Utopian Society of America can sponsor a National Goals Insti- tute, the purpose of which is to chart out attainable goals for concerned citizens of the United States to strive toward. This research laboratory will be in touch with the latest socioecological developments and their progress in terms of tangible utopianization of the na- tion. Getting back to the pragmatics of the here-and-now reality, there are three projects underway at the present time. Project P.A.S.S. Mobile School, a non-profit func- tion of P.A,S.S. lnc., is now in operation, acquainting volunteer social workers with the cultural and artistic heritage of San Francisco. Frequent trips are made to museums, libraries, educational films, etc. Secondly, the Purple Submarine Players are developing their identity as entertainers, preparing the Cosmic Opera as a musical introduction to pragmatic utopian philosophy. Ulti- mately they plan to put the show on the road and tour neighboring colleges and universities as a Traveling Ges- talt Circus. The third project that is presently underway takes the form of publishing. As illustrated by this educational material, a capability is being developed through which utopian literature can be produced on a large scale. Blueprints for publications include a monthly corres- pondence course, a newspaper to be published and dis- tributed regularly, and periodic booklets on subjects pertinent to bringing about the betterment of society. This has been a brief summary of the plans and projects happening and to happen in the framework of the Move- ment for Altruistic Social Transformation. Hopefully, it is just a beginning. The directions that can be taken in- side this framework are unlimited, and through intel- Iigently applying our beliefs and theories to the design, . we can create a model utopian complex that will endure. The "central change agent" is a public service nonprofit corporation, chartered by the State of California, called World Academy of Keristan Education, lnc. The academy produces tuition-free courses to help persons help themselves. The Kerista Global Village Network links and interconnects all players into a location-independent network based on mutual benefit. The ”neotribal community process" creates Society ”B," which operates inside of, and is a beneficent part of the greater society, Society "A." The Dramatology Acting School Workshops tie it together through theatrical games, simulation and productions. Hiiifcioivissiihe FUTURE! Are we ready for the next step? Can we develop a New Age transformational, sensitive, self-improvement process that will make us into better persons who are truly healthier, happier, and more able to function productively? Can we become more socially responsible? NEOTRIBAL COMMUNITY In the Dramatology Acting Workshop the learning programs have three parts: Act One — The Past Act Two — The Present Act Three — The Future You are a star in the show! Yet, an ironic situation presents itself. It‘s impossible for them to dovso as long as they must support themselves. The only chance we have to solve the problems’ facing San Francisco is for people to get together in a Civilian Branch of Service where individuals are self-directing, creative, and free to work for positive social change... as Arti::ts—in-Residence and Volunteer Educators... on minimal subsistence. There are more and more positive centers opening and these organizations have serious and sincere people in them who want to see Northern California become a better place to live. The absence of dental, medical, child-care, alternative education and recreational facilities is an alienating factor to those who are not economically fortunate enough to have access to them. Luckily, there is an alternative pursuits movement forming up and offering some recourse for those disadvantaged. The publishers of this paper will be scouting out as many of these avenues as can be found and listing them as a public service for no charge whatsoever. The Volunteer Educators of The Storefront Classroom are working full-time on an alternative pursuits program of their own. A neighborhood facility of the same name as the masthead is in the planning stages and is gauged to serve «children: in the community by providing them with supplementary, multi-media instructional programs so that there will be a greater chance to discover the hidden talent that is believed to be in every child. The persons who want to work on this program are all volunteers and are only prevented at this stage because of the economic necessity that exists for one to “make it.” If the 7 pursuit of this newspaper is successful then Artist-in-Residence‘ facilities will be opened and food, clothing and other living expenses on a minimal subsistence level will be covered» by Perfroming Arts Social Society, Inc., into which all contributions will flow. The energy that may be released by this project should be felt in an area that has never been really affected before... crime prevention through alienation abatement for children and young adults. Our proposal to you is for an annual grant of $60.00 which will contribute to the support of an Artist-in-Residence and Volunteer Educator for one full year. The beneficiary will be working full-time on The Storefront Classroom. Your grant can be anonymous or we will be happy to mention your name and/or message in The Storefront Classroom publication which will be read by 250,000 people. Show less
